Making parallel bars portable

The GHS is parallel bars where you really need them…providing simultaneous forearm and lower trunk support for the client, and allowing for safe movement over-ground surfaces

Did you know the GHS is like mobile parallel bars - and so much more?

Watch this video to learn more

The Gait Harness System is:

…… easy to use,  and designed around the client’s and therapist’s needs

The client does not have to come to the bars; with the GHS, the “bars” come to them. The GHS can be brought up to a client’s wheelchair or scooter, or brought up to a matt table or bedside
With the GHS, the client is no longer limited to a rigid forward pattern of movement, in a confined, narrow path. With the System, the client is not forced to use their upper body to propel their lower body, allowing more natural progression, using upper body and lower body muscles

“There are benefits of using the GHS with amputee patients, who are fearful of falling, as it can promote less dependence on the parallel bars.”
Debbie Pitsch, PT, Palo Alto Polytrauma Rehabilitation Center, VA Palo Alto Health Care System, Palo Alto CA

……keeps caregivers and users safe, providing better support

In the GHS the client is safe and comfortable, as the System provides excellent forearm and lower trunk support

The GHS has a padded forearm support, relieving parallel bar stress on the client’s hands, wrists and arms

The client does not have to hold themselves up with their arms; if the client tires, they can simply have a seated rest break in the harness

Using the GHS reduces the number of “hands” required to support clients during therapy

Keeps clients safe when using electric stimulation, or being fitted for AFOs, KAFOs, lower extremity orthotics and prosthetics

….. provides new chances to start therapy sooner

Early therapy windows won’t be missed, as superior forearm and trunk support encourage the client and the therapist to participate the lower level client at earlier ambulation stages of therapy

The client is no longer confined to a bed or wheelchair because of risk of falling associated with parallel bars

Client and therapist have higher motivation with therapy when fear of falling disappears

“The GHS has allowed our program to be very challenging, efficient, and safe at the same time. Many of the higher level activities would require two or three staff members if it were not for the GHS. I cannot say enough about the ease of use and its ability to reduce the fear of falling.”
William Thornton, MPT, Lead Physical Therapist, The Center for Spinal Cord Injury Recovery®, Rehab Institute of Michigan,
Detroit MI

….. creates healthy opportunities for recovery

Recovery becomes a better approach than adaptation

Therapists can progress clients faster, without staff being put at risk of injury during earlier therapy

Therapists find it easier to assess for posture and progress. The GHS promotes greater stance control, locomotion, hip rotation, and reciprocal movement

“The GHS allows for early gait training in a safe environment to progress patients quickly out of the parallel bars, and improve overall endurance.”
Debbie Pitsch, PT, Palo Alto Polytrauma Rehabilitation Center, VA Palo Alto Health Care System, Palo Alto CA

…… is portable, and saves space

The GHS saves much needed space in the clinic.  Unlike parallel bars, which permanently take up clinic floor space, are bolted to the floor and unmovable.

The GHS can move in and out of the gym, up and down hallways

The GHS is portable, fits through standard doorways, can be easily transported between clinic and home locations

The GHS is easily stored; conveniently fits around wheelchairs, scooters, chairs when not being used

……saves money and makes money

The GHS offers diversified  therapy opportunities and is an affordable option for many clients and clinic budgets

Purchasing the GHS may qualify the facility for a tax credit

Therapists and facilities can begin early ambulation programs, which increase revenues and attract more clients to facility programs, as more favorable outcomes occur with earlier participation

Families see their loved one participate on a road to recovery, with renewed hopes for independence

New opportunities and solutions…in rehabilitation, we are only limited by our imagination…..

No problem is too big…if the right people, with the right treatment, and the right System, go at it the right way

….. renewed hope of recovery
“Your videos of brain injured folks, like my son, using the GHS brings tears to my eyes because it reminds us to never give up and to keep trying new things.”
Bonnie P., parent of user, Eugene OR

.....healthy opportunities for recovery
“Just this morning the Gait Harness System was bringing some amazement and tears to staff members as a student used it successfully.”
David Cacciatore, Physical Therapist, Lane School, Houston TX

…..keeping therapists & patients safe
“Patients cannot fall using the GHS as the harness is designed to support their full body weight if necessary.  No walker or cane can compare to the safety of this System.”
Nicole Prieto-Lewis, Director of the Gait and Balance Laboratory, Gainesville VA, Gainesville FL
