When outcomes
matter, having the right equipment is critical

“I am suggesting
my patients get a Second Step device to
them, because we know that over-ground training gives
the best recovery results.”
- Carlos
Lima, MD, Department of Neurology, Hospital de Egas
Moniz, Lisbon, Portugal
-
“The Gait Harness System
is a truly marvelous device that could
no doubt help thousands of people
actually regain
their mobility, not just spend the rest
of their lives being pushed around in a
wheel chair or riding on a scooter.”
-
Joe Mitchell, Financial
Aid Center for Long Term Care, Inc.,
Grants Pass OR
-
-
“It
is marvelous product and I wish you
well. Your mission is noble.”
-
Lesa M., child of post stroke user, New
York City NY
-
-
"I have a tremendous respect for the work you do
and wish you nothing but continued success. It's
comforting, at the very least, to know that even
3,000 miles away, there are still kind, caring
people out there who understand what one
encounters in caring for a disabled loved one.
Your product is ingenious and should receive
more accolades."
-
Scott A., son of father with stroke, orthopedic,
SCI issues, Staten Island NY
-
- "He is
doing great, already showing improvement in his
endurance and his steps are getting smoother. I want to
thank you for all you have done to help us. Sometimes
good people find themselves in positions they never in a
million years thought they would be in, and thank God
there are still caring and compassionate people like you
(and those with your company) who are still willing to
help someone when they can. Your kindness was a blessing
to me and Clay. Thanks again."

-
Deputy Amanda C., wife of Deputy TBI user, Green Cove
Springs, FL
-
"I served our country, active duty, during the
Korean War. After
badly healed fractures in my leg, my ribs, and my
arm kept me in bed at a nursing home for six months,
I was told I shouldn't expect to walk again. Well,
they don't know me! I'm a competitive guy. This is
me, resting after my first day walking after those
six months, happy to be on my feet again. Six weeks
later, I'm alot stronger, and I'm walking so fast up
and down all the hallways at the home, the staff
can't keep up with me!"

Donald D., veteran and post
CVA, TBI and orthopedic user, Eugene OR

The Gait Harness System is….
-
.....allowing for ambulation opportunities they
couldn’t otherwise have

-
“My
son was standing for 45 minutes in the GHSII,
with his KAFOs on, the first day we received it.
He had no fear of falling, and was very
comfortable. He hasn’t been standing in a long
time, and we can see how much this is going to
help him. He’s excited!”
- Elayne W., mother of
SCI user, St. Louis MO

-
- “I
didn’t walk for 14 years until coming to RIM. With
the GHS, now I can walk four laps around the track
with small breaks in between and also crawl about
the same."
- John T., T-12 para/amputee user, Bannister MI

“Due
to the lack of nursing staff nationwide, there is an
inability for a skeleton staff to provide
restorative nursing care. I think the GHS can
provide a solution by having the staff place
patients in the GHS and have them be free to
ambulate on a daily basis, while they take care of
other patients at the same time."
- Nicole Prieto-Lewis,
Director of the Gait and Balance Laboratory,
Gainesville VA, Gainesville FL
-
- “One
of my veteran clients, who has a lower extremity
amputation, lives in a rural area in South Carolina
and
inconsistently received therapy services at
home. We helped the family get a GHS for them to
work on his ambulation at home once he was
discharged.”
- A. Flood, PT, James A
Haley Veteran’s Hospital, Tampa FL
-
- “I
have a 40 year old male patient who sustained a TBI
in 1994. He was at the Tampa VA for therapy from
1996-1997, and returned in 2003 for a re-evaluation.
He and his family were educated in the proper set-up
and application of the GHS, and a request was made
to have a unit shipped to Tennessee for patient to
use in the home for continuity of care and continued
functional training. This patient has high needs
for mobility assistance, and is in the GHS
approximately 6x/week at this time. Without the
GHS, he would not have ambulating opportunities.”
- E. King, PT, James A Haley
Veteran’s Hospital, Tampa FL

-
….establishing more normal gait patterns
-
“We have been using our Second Step and love it.
We have incorporated it with the Interactive
Metronome for gait
training amputees. “
- Sophia Bong, President
and CEO, Strength Training & Recovery Corp.,
Grand Blanc MI
-
- “The
GHS promotes a faster gait velocity, which is
difficult to do with over-ground ambulation.“
- Debbie Pitsch, PT, Palo
Alto Polytrauma Rehabilitation Center, VA Palo Alto
Health Care System, Palo Alto CA
-
-
….helping my patients be more comfortable, both
psychologically and physically
- “The
Gait Harness System may reduce anxiety and fear of
falling, and improve motivation.”
- Debbie Pitsch, PT, Palo
Alto Polytrauma Rehabilitation Center, VA Palo Alto Health Care
System, Palo Alto CA
-
-
“I
have found the GHS really useful with clients on
both the psychological and physical level. It’s made
a huge difference with clients for whom other types
of equipment have not worked, and with clients who
haven’t been willing to work with any other type of
equipment because of a fear of falling. It’s
uplifting to see clients no longer have the fear of
falling, and be willing to do therapy. Clients who
were hard to work with are now very motivated, and
the staff is also motivated to help them. Many of
these clients have never been able to successfully
ambulate prior to using the GHS.”
- Guy Brock, Director of
Rehab/Sleep Center/EEG, Scripps Mercy Hospital, San
Diego CA
-
-

- “We
have treated patients with vestibular disorders,
gait abnormalities, CVA, post-op THR, TKR, post
amputee, TBI,and patients with a variety of lower
extremity balance and coordination problems.
Patients with mental dysfunction such as Alzheimer’s
Disease can be safely and securely ambulated to
provide important health benefits while maintaining
a minimal risk to the patient, attending aide, or
therapist.”
- Joseph Millen, PT, MTC
Program of Excellence Coordinator SORS, Palm Harbor
FL
-
-
……saving my patients time and money
- “Increased mobility through walking programs would
supplement patient’s rehab programs and potentially
reduce length of stay in the hospital.”
- Nicole Prieto-Lewis,
Director of the Gait and Balance Laboratory,
Gainesville VA, Gainesville FL
-
-
……keeping therapists and patients safe
- “Patients cannot fall using this system as the
harness is designed to support their full body
weight if necessary. No walker or cane can compare
to the safety of this system.”
- Nicole Prieto-Lewis,
Director of the Gait and Balance Laboratory,
Gainesville VA, Gainesville FL
-
“There
are benefits of using the GHS with amputee patients,
who are fearful of falling, as it can promote less
dependence on the parallel bars.”
- Debbie Pitsch, PT, Palo
Alto Polytrauma Rehabilitation Center, VA Palo Alto
Health Care System, Palo Alto CA
-
- “The
GHS has allowed our program to be very challenging,
efficient, and safe at the same time. Many of the
higher level activities would require two or three
staff members if it were not for the GHS. I cannot
say enough about the ease of use and its ability to
reduce the fear of falling.”
- William Thornton, MPT,
Lead Physical Therapist, The Center for Spinal Cord
Injury Recovery®, Rehab Institute of Michigan,
Detroit MI

If a patient is going to recover, everyone has to work
together, and work hard. Recovery is possible.
No problem is
too big…if the right people, with the right treatment,
and the right System, go at it the right way |
