I was told I would never walk again. I feel more stable in the Second Step GHS because I don’t have to worry about moving my hands. If you misplace your hands in the parallel bars or a walker you are going to fall. With the GHS I don’t worry about my hands–the equipment moves around with me. I can be upright, use my hip flexors and extensors much more and can focus on what my feet are doing and when to take steps. If your walker tips, you tip–whereas the Second Step can’t tip, it holds you in place. I used some equipment before which felt like I was ‘part of it’ versus it being part of me and it didn’t work well. The Second Step works better and helps me with a more fluid walk. It’s very adjustable and extremely helpful. The GHS can get me to community level walking a lot faster than a standard walker would. It allows you to do more on your own. I may not walk like you but even being able to get upright and walking a little bit changes everything for me.
